1. Log onto Microsoft's website and download the COMdisable tool on your computer. (See Resources) Navigate to the "Start" menu, open the "Run" button and type "cmd" at the prompt then press "Enter." This will open a DOS command window. Type in "comdisable /list" and press "Enter" to find a numbered list of the COM ports on your computer. Type in "comdisable /enable X" (where X is the number of the COM port to be enabled) and press "Enter" to enable any COM port on your machine. Reboot your computer to complete the process.
