(One of the many features available on your BlackBerry is the alarm clock. Available in multiple profiles, such as Loud, Vibrate and Quiet, the BlackBerry alarm can be set toyour preferred ringtone and number of vibrations. You cancustomize it further by choosing a daily ring or a weekday-only option. You canalso choose the time lapse foryour snooze setting, and the number of vibrations. However, the BlackBerry alarm feature is not without faults.1.No Sound*.Should your alarm not soundat your set time, be sure your volume is up. If your volume is up, locate the sound file that you have setyour alarm to sound and be sure that it plays. If this file is paused, it may not play when your alarm is set to sound. Also check that you set it for the correct time of day, whether it is AM or PM. Also be sure the Daily Alarm setting is turned to On. You may have your BlackBerry set on a corrupt theme. Try switching the theme to a default and test the alarm again. If your settings are all correct, and the audio fileplays, try pulling the battery. Remove the cover plate from you BlackBerry by pressing down on the chrome rectangle and slidingthe cover off. Take the battery out of its cradle andreplace after a few seconds. If that doesn't solve it, check to see if operating system (OS) upgrades are available for download. Install your BlackBerry's Desktop Manager that came with your BlackBerry. You can also download the Desktop Manager from your carrier's website. Launch theDesktop Manager and backup your data. Upgradingyour OS should not delete your data, but it is better tobe safe than sorry. Identify which OS you're currently running by choosing Settings from your main menu and clicking About. Connect your BlackBerry to your computer using the USBcord. Your Desktop Managerwill prompt you to check for upgrades. With your BlackBerry connected, it will update your OS for you, a process that takes anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes. You can also check the Research In Motion website for OS upgrades.2.Multiple Alarms*.BlackBerry alarms do not allow for you to select multiple alarms. For example, if you have to wake up at 7am Monday but not until 8:30 Tuesday, you must manually change the time daily. As a workaround for this downfall, try setting an alert in your calendar. Ensure that you choose calendar settings that will ring multiple times and at a loud enough volume to wakeyou up. Also keep in mind that you cannot snooze the calendar alerts. Instead, open the event when the alert rings, and change the time for the calendar event.)Related
