Dick Costolo, the CEO of the micro-blogging service, is expected to officially announce this new feature this Wednesday, June 1, D9 at the conference to be held in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
This is a project that should not deprive third-party services which already existing and share photos on Twitter, as Twitpic Yfrog, Instagram or Flickr.
This new photo-sharing service would allow users of micro-blogging site to easily share photos from their profiles via a shortened URL.
With the arrival of the photo service, Twitter shows its desire to control all the tools at its affiliate site of micro-blogging, and not to leave them under the control of third party developers or Twitter clients. A desire shown by the recent takeover by Twitter client application TweetDeck popular .
